Day 2 - 5
Encounter the Silky Sharks of Baja California

Each day,  we will bring you to a secret location where an extraordinary gathering of silky sharks takes place, a rare phenomenon in the world of oceanic wildlife. Baja California’s waters draw these beautiful sharks in impressive numbers of up to 100 individuals in one school. Named for their smooth, brownish skin and slender bodies, silky sharks grow up to 2.5 meters in length. Unlike the most of pelagic shark species, these sharks are highly social, accustomed to the close proximity of their companions, which means they don’t mind getting close to people as well. Known for their confidence and curiosity, they often approach divers, making for breathtaking, up-close interactions. Each day, you’ll have a new opportunity to observe their behavior, read their body language, and enjoy memorable, respectful encounters under the guidance of our experienced professionals.

Daily Plan:

  • Day 2: Ocean Safari and Introduction to Silky Sharks – Begin with an ocean safari focused on smaller groups of sharks to ease into the experience. Our two professional guides will teach you essential skills for interacting with these impressive animals, ensuring a safe and comfortable start.

  • Days 3-5: Progressively Immersive Shark Encounters – Each day, you’ll build your knowledge and skills, learning to interpret the silky sharks' behavior and enjoy close, respectful encounters. As these naturally social sharks swim closely together, you’ll be able to observe their interactions, noting the grace and curiosity that makes them so engaging.

With only six participants per group, you’ll enjoy a highly personalized experience with expert guidance, gaining confidence and insight into one of nature’s most captivating displays of marine life.

What to look forward to?

On this unique journey, you’ll encounter the incredible diversity of marine life in Baja California Sur, experiencing rare, breathtaking interactions with apex predators in a very small group of six guests, ensuring initmate and respectful encounters. Your guides will be professionals with over 10 years of shark experience and they will provide insights to help you interpret each encounter and fully enjoy the underwater world. Each day you will not only interact with the fascinating predators, but day-by-day, you will learn to read their body language, interpret their movements and behaviors, and understand what their actions mean. As you immerse yourself in this experience, you’ll grow increasingly confident and knowledgeable, deepening your appreciation and love for these magnificent creatures.

For four days of the expedition, we’ll journey to a secret location renowned for its aggregations of silky sharks. Here, up to 100 silky sharks gather, a rare event in marine wildlife, allowing you to observe and swim alongside these graceful and curious animals. Known for their unique social behavior, silky sharks don’t mind close encounters with humans, which creates an unforgettable opportunity to connect with them in the water.

For the last day, we’ll search the Gulf of California’s crystal-clear waters for different animal encounters. This time of year is the peak season for the giant manta rays, and we will also be able to look for mobula rays, sperm whales and orcas.

We’ve been dedicated to ocean and shark conservation for over 8 years, and our mission is to raise awareness about the beauty of these animals and how we can coexist with them. For sharks and marine wildlife, we humans are the greatest threat, yet a healthy ocean depends on their survival. By joining this expedition, you’ll be directly contributing to our ongoing conservation efforts and supporting a future where marine ecosystems continue to thrive.
